Every year, First Presbyterian of Benton Harbor sends youth to Camp Henry. This program is open to both the children of members of the church as well as those in the community. Youth must meet certain criteria, including youth group attendance, fundraising participation, and service goals, to be eligible for reduced or free tuition.
Camp Henry is located on Kimball Lake in Newaygo, Michigan, and is a ministry of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Grand Rapids. Camp Henry serves kids ages 8-17 at its regular sessions and First Pres kids usually attend the first week of August each summer.
Since 2013, more than 40 weeks of Camp Henry have been earned by our youth. By getting early commitments and providing opportunities to raise funds as a team, the kids have been able to attend camp without paying any tuition out of pocket. What a blessing for these youth to learn the importance of hard work and gratitude for the gifts of their ardent supporters.
Take at look at some of the pictures of the youth who attended Camp Henry in 2016 with the them of GO and DO — Antwan, Danny, AJ, Ezra, Anton, Antonio, She’liah, Aaliyah, Lois, Jayme. Plus one of our own members (Ben Thompson) was able to serve on staff as he has in the past as well, during the week our kids were there!
